Chief Brewster assumed the role of Chief on July 1st, 2022. An alumnus of Radford University, former volunteer firefighter for both Blacksburg and Christiansburg Fire Departments, his journey in law enforcement began in 1997 as a Dispatcher for the Blacksburg Police Department, eventually transitioning to a sworn officer in 1999. Chief Brewster is also a graduate of the 282nd session of the FBI National Academy and was appointed by VA Governor Glen Youngkin in August 2023 as the local law enforcement representative on the E 9-1-1 Services Board.
